Open-air Art Exhibit: Detective Show X unveiled by city sprayers for public viewing
In the heart of Aachen, Germany, the City Glow Festival (Stadtglühen) returns for another year, with the much-anticipated Detective Show X event taking centre stage. This open-air exhibition, running from August 15 to 17, 2025, will transform Frankenberger Park and Moltke Park into a vibrant canvas for contemporary art.
The Detective Show X, a recurring event within the festival, draws inspiration from the original Detective Show held at Gorman Park, New York, in 1978. This year's event, curated by @unauthorizedartcritic, promises to continue the tradition of integrating art into public urban spaces, with a focus on graffiti, street art, and unauthorized art in public spaces.
Notable artists participating in this year's event include John Fekner, known for his critical artistic expressions, and a diverse group of international talents such as Krista Burger from the Netherlands, Patricia Yasmine Graf and Dave de Leeuw from Maastricht, and many more.
The City Scavenger Hunt, a key feature of the festival, invites visitors to follow clues and decipher locations using a map to discover artworks hidden throughout the parks. This interactive experience is free and open to all, with no registration required. The Scavenger Hunt kicks off on August 16 and 17, with the curators, Robert Kaltenhäuser and Lene ter Haar, available on a mobile bike office along the route from 12:00 to 20:00. The route takes approximately 60 minutes on foot.
In addition to the City Scavenger Hunt, an open workshop for children and youth will be held by the artist duo Krista Burger and Kenneth Letsoin at the former creative house in Moltke Park on August 16 and 17 at 15:00. This workshop is also free and open to all.
