Online commotion surfaces over a sports apparel retailer's denial of service to a client
In an ongoing dispute, a customer and a major sports brand store on Shopee are at odds after the customer was blocked following an order for an out-of-stock item during the 7.7 promotion on July 7, 2025.
The customer, who placed the order and completed payment, requested a specific size for the item, only to be informed later that the requested size was only available at a different store. The customer chose to wait for the system or seller to automatically cancel the order since the item was never shipped.
However, the store insisted that the customer cancel the order and offered a discount coupon as compensation. The customer, maintaining their position, refused and insisted that the store cancel the order instead, citing concerns about it affecting their transaction history.
After some negotiation, the store later informed the customer that the item was out of stock and asked them to cancel the order, citing platform policy. The customer still declined, leading to the store blocking their account.
The incident was shared on the Facebook page Running Reviewer, including a message from the store asking the customer to cancel the order. The sports brand's name has not been disclosed in public reports.
As of now, it is unknown if the sports brand has since reached out to resolve the matter. The current status of the dispute remains unresolved publicly.
Despite the ongoing dispute, the customer expressed a desire to continue supporting the sports brand, hoping that the issue could be resolved amicably. Meanwhile, the customer's lifestyle preferences, including shopping for sports attire, may be temporarily affected due to the account block on Shopee.
