A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday, when a German Armed Forces helicopter, an EC-135, crashed into the Mulde River near the town of Grimma in Saxony. The helicopter was on a training flight at the time of the crash, and the exact cause of the incident remains unknown as investigations are ongoing.

According to a spokesperson for the German Air Force, two experienced crew members lost their lives in the crash. Both soldiers were from the Helicopter Wing 64. The search for a third crew member is currently being conducted by the German Air Force, but as of the current date, no publicly released sources have provided specific details about the gender or age of the missing individual.

The crash site was the scene of a significant emergency response, with over 100 rescue personnel and police divers working to recover the victims and secure the area. Kerosene leaked into the water from the helicopter, adding to the urgency of the situation.

Federal Minister of Defense Boris Pistorius (SPD) visited the crash site, expressing his condolences and emphasizing the importance of a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The search for the missing crew member will resume in the morning. The German Armed Forces have not yet provided information on the causes of the crash.
