Ongoing fix-ups persist within the northwestern sector

Berlin's Reinickendorf district is making strides in its storm recovery efforts, according to District Mayor Emine Demirbüken-Wegner. Two severe storms at the end of June caused extensive damage, but progress is visible, albeit with some areas still needing attention.

The Tegeler Forest, one of the most affected areas, remains closed until at least August 18, as announced by the Berlin Forestry Office. The clearing work in the forest is ongoing, and police rope technicians have been deployed to remove loose branches from tree crowns. The closure has been extended due to the clearing work taking longer than initially expected after recent rainfall.

Elsewhere in the district, the sports facility in Göschenpark, the media competence center in Namslaustraße, and a part of the Heiligensee cemetery have reopened. However, some areas still need to be closed for safety reasons, as confirmed by Mayor Demirbüken-Wegner. Two public order service employees have been assigned to check the closures daily in Reinickendorf.

Over 1,100 damage reports have been received at the district office, but no specific areas, other than the Tegeler Forest, have been mentioned as needing to remain closed. If the weather remains stable, the clearing work will be expanded, as announced by the district office.

Mayor Demirbüken-Wegner emphasised the immense scale of the storm's impact. She appealed to the public not to remove barrier tapes for safety reasons, stressing that some areas must remain closed until the storm damage is fully cleared.

For the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding storm damage clearance in Reinickendorf, you might consider checking official Berlin city or Reinickendorf district government websites, local news outlets, or contacting the local emergency management office directly. These sources typically provide timely updates on recovery and cleanup efforts following storms.

The recovery efforts in Berlin's Reinickendorf district, disrupted by June's severe storms, are expected to expand as the weather remains stable. This expansion will mainly focus on environmental-science areas, such as the Tegeler Forest, where clearing work is still ongoing. Science enthusiasts might find this ongoing work in the forest an interesting study of the impact of severe weather on the local environment.
