Ongoing dispute: Zak Starkey refutes Roger Daltrey's accusations of character assassination as the controversy over his exit from The Who persists

In a recent Instagram post, Zak Starkey, the former drummer of The Who, has denied making nasty comments about Roger Daltrey following his dismissal from the band. This comes after Daltrey described Starkey's comments as "kind of a character assassination" and "incredibly upsetting."

Starkey clarified that there was no argument or conflict with Daltrey before or after the Royal Albert Hall show where an onstage incident occurred. He stated that he thought the gig went fine and was unaware of any issues or his firing until about a week later.

Starkey called the story in The Times "old news and completely wrong," emphasizing that he loves Roger and holds no grudges towards him. He maintained his stance in a lengthy post on Instagram, where he also explained that his comments were about Roger Daltrey missing the intro to The Song Is Over during a concert in March, not about Starkey himself.

Meanwhile, Daltrey expressed that he found Starkey's public comments following the Royal Albert Hall incident distressing, interpreting them as a personal attack rather than a discussion of band matters. Daltrey noted the problem during the show related to Starkey's drum volume affecting his hearing, not a direct conflict with Starkey himself.

The saga of Starkey's dismissal from The Who has been ongoing, with various announcements about his rehiring and retirement adding to the confusion. Despite this, Starkey finds the continued attention on the dismissal issue annoying and considers it "bollox." He maintains his love for Roger Daltrey and considers their history too long for grudges.

The Who, with a new drummer, is preparing for their farewell tour. Despite the recent events, it seems that the band is moving forward, leaving behind the controversy surrounding Zak Starkey's departure.
