Ongoing Controversy Imperils License: Hannover 96's Dispute Persists

A Standoff at Hannover 96: The Licensing Crisis Persists

Ongoing Dispute Threatens Hannover 96's Licensing Status - Ongoing controversy threatens Hannover 96's license: ongoing disagreement persists

Hannover 96's resolution to the license-endangering spat over the managing director appointment appears to be stumbling. It seemed a deal was near: current sporting director Marcus Mann was set to be promoted to the position of sporting managing director, and ex-Hamburger SV marketing director Henning Bindzus was to take over as financial managing director.

However, a statement from Hannover 96 Sales & Service GmbH & Co. KG reveals documents from the club that significantly diverge from the compromise discussed for the managing directors of Hannover 96 GmbH & Co. KGaA in recent weeks. Since some aspects are entirely new, a prompt comprehension is difficult.

Current Status: Back to the drawing board.

The e.V. and shareholders of the professional football area Hannover 96 GmbH & Co. KGaA have been at odds for years. Ever since the dismissal of long-time professional managing director Martin Kind last year, both sides have failed to reach a consensus on a successor. In accordance with the licensing regulations of the German Football League, the club needs a managing director to sign the license application.

"We're running out of time," Kind told Bild. "Suddenly, there are a lot of sticking points again. It's almost like everything has reopened." The statement indicates that a temporary interim solution is now necessary.

Robin Krakau, deputy chairman of the club, told Bild: "The club side has transmitted all the essential documents, they are available. This means that the articles of association, the division of business, and the resolution on the appointment of the two managing directors for our company are in place. According to our understanding, it is now only a matter of certain contract nuances concerning Mr. Mann being discussed by the capital side."
