From Monday, 4th August, eligible voters can request postal voting documents online through the official Solingen city website. The postal voting office in Ohligs, one of Solingen's local districts, will open one week later, on Monday, 11th August. The specific hours for the postal voting office during the local election have not been specified yet.

For those who prefer to apply in person, the postal voting office in the Ohligs citizen's office will be open from 11th August until the end of the local election. The citizen's office on Grünstraße will be used exclusively for postal voting during this period.

Once the postal voting kit is received, voters can mark their ballots privately and return them by mail or drop them off at the election office. Postal votes must be received by the election authority by the end of the election day to be counted.

In case no candidate receives an absolute majority of more than 50% in the first round, a runoff election will be necessary. The two candidates with the most votes in the first round will proceed to the runoff election, which is scheduled for 28th September.

Approximately 124,000 eligible voters will be called upon to cast their votes. The Integration Council (ZuWi) will also be elected on the same day, with approximately 44,000 people entitled to vote.
