Renovation Begins on Tukhachevsky Embankment Near Omsk Fortress as Extreme Cold Looms

Work has started on the Tukhachevsky Embankment in the area known as the Omsk Fortress, just ahead of forecasted temperatures plunging to –40°C.

According to an Omsk-Inform correspondent reporting from the scene, construction equipment has arrived, and part of the site has been cordoned off. Excavation work has begun near the descent to the Irtysh River.

Earlier, Omsk Region Governor Vitaly Khotsenko announced plans to complete the section from the metro bridge to Green Island this year.

The land surveying will be handled by Garden City, a Moscow-based company. Under the project, the revitalized embankment will feature children's and sports zones, shaded areas, viewing platforms overlooking the river, new cafés and restaurants, and a centerpiece attraction—a themed lighthouse with decorative lighting.
