The Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) has announced that it will provide financial support exceeding 100 million rubles to the Russian hockey team, Avant-garde, for the 2024/2025 season. This substantial aid comes as the team prepares for their upcoming season, which is set to begin soon.

In their first match of the KHL regular season, Avant-garde demonstrated their determination and skill, emerging victorious against Khabarovsk's Amur with a score of 2:1. The victory was hard-fought, with both teams displaying impressive play throughout the game.

The first goal for Avant-garde was scored by Ivan Mishchenko during a power play in the final minutes of the first period. Vasily Ponomarev added to their lead in the second period, reacting to a rebound from the goalie in front of the net.

Khabarovsk, however, did not give up easily. They played over three minutes shorthanded in the final minutes due to a penalty, but were unable to tie the game. Konstantin Okulov scored a goal for Khabarovsk in the third period, finishing a solo rush into the offensive zone with a precise shot, but it was not enough to secure a win for the home team.

With this victory, Avant-garde has earned its first points in the KHL regular season. The team will look to build on this success as they prepare for their next game, which will be at home on Saturday, September 13, against Moscow's Dynamo.

Despite the excitement of their first win, Avant-garde will need to address some areas for improvement. They failed to capitalize on two 5-on-3 power plays in the second period, which could have given them a more comfortable lead.

The financial support from the KHL will undoubtedly be a boost for Avant-garde as they look to compete at the highest level. The team manager, whose identity is currently unknown, will have the resources to build a strong squad and compete for championships in the future.

As the 2024/2025 season approaches, hockey fans are eager to see how Avant-garde will perform with this increased support. With their first win under their belts, the team is off to a promising start.
