Omsk Water Utility tackles 11,000 requests and flood prep in March 2026
Omsk Water Utility managed a busy March in 2026, handling nearly 11,000 calls and service requests. The company also carried out extensive repairs and upgrades ahead of the spring flood season, placing all divisions on high alert for potential disruptions. During March, the utility addressed 279 blockages and repaired a damaged section of the sewer network. Teams also fixed over 50 water supply line failures, with 13 of these requiring direct work in utility wells to restore faulty shutoff valves. Additionally, ageing water main sections were replaced at five different addresses across the city.
Residents contacted the utility most often for help with ownership transfers, billing corrections, and meter inspections. To prepare for emergencies, a reserve stock of chemical reagents, filtering materials, and essential equipment was assembled. Construction is underway on a new duker crossing beneath the Om River near Frunzensky Bridge. The 800-metre pipeline is being installed using horizontal directional drilling, a method chosen to minimise disruption to the surrounding area.
The utility has not released comparative data on water pipe disruptions between March 2026 and the previous year. However, the completed repairs, infrastructure upgrades, and flood preparedness measures aim to maintain reliable service during the high-risk spring period.
