Omsk Oblast bans heavy trucks for a month to protect damaged roads

Omsk Oblast will impose a temporary ban on heavy vehicles from April 6 to May 5. Trucks weighing over 10 tons will be restricted on several key routes. The move follows concerns over road damage caused by adverse weather and weakened infrastructure. The restrictions will affect multiple roads, including the Ust-Ishim–Zagvazdino–Tyumen Oblast border route. Drivers must take a longer detour via R-402 Tyumen–Yalutorovsk–Ishim–Omsk, then through Golyshmanovo, Aromashevo, Vagay, and Dubrovnoye before reaching Abaul.

Another closed section, the Ust-Ishim–Fokino route, will force vehicles to reroute along R-402, then via Abatskoye, Vikulovo, Kargaly, and Serebryanka in Tyumen Oblast. The Bolshiye Uki–Tevriz route will also shut, with trucks redirected through Omsk–Tara, Tobolsk–Tara–Tomsk, and the Tara–Ust-Ishim stretch. Not all vehicles face restrictions. Exemptions apply to international transport, passenger services, and trucks carrying road construction or repair materials. Authorities have not announced additional support or alternative arrangements for affected freight operators.

The month-long ban aims to protect roads weakened by seasonal weather. Heavy vehicles must follow designated detours until May 5. Exemptions remain in place for essential transport and maintenance work.
