Omsk construction giant faces collapse despite winning new contracts
Sibirskiye Stroitelnye Materialy LLC, a construction firm based in Omsk, has faced financial troubles despite a strong track record in public projects. The company, founded in 2009, has worked on major contracts, including university buildings and school renovations. But recent court actions and debt issues have put its operations at risk. The company began as a specialist in social infrastructure, securing government contracts over the years. In 2022, it completed the main building for Omsk State University, a project worth around 151.35 million rubles ($1.64 million). By 2024, its revenue reached roughly 2 billion rubles ($21.7 million), with tax payments totalling about 194.8 million rubles ($2.11 million).
In autumn 2025, Stroi Industriya LLC announced plans to file for bankruptcy against Sibirskiye Stroitelnye Materialy. The move followed financial struggles, including a court order to recover unpaid debts. By early 2026, the company's accounts were frozen after its balance fell below zero by over 22.62 million rubles ($245,000).
Despite these issues, the firm still won two school renovation contracts in spring 2026, valued at approximately 123.7 million rubles ($1.34 million) and 124.2 million rubles ($1.35 million) each. As of 1 April 2026, however, no formal bankruptcy claim had yet appeared in Omsk's arbitration court records. The suspension of transactions has halted the company's financial activity for now. While it continues to secure new contracts, its ability to fulfil them depends on resolving its debt problems. The outcome of any potential bankruptcy proceedings remains uncertain.
