In a concerning turn of events, Austrian ski jumper Eva Pinkelnig experienced a heavy fall during the first test jump on the new Olympic ski jump in Predazzo, Italy. The location of the test jumps, however, is actually Val di Fiemme, a nearby town in the region.

The 37-year-old athlete, known for her impressive performances, was competing during the second round of the test jump. Shrieks were heard on television as she landed, following which she fell and remained lying in the outrun. Pinkelnig immediately held her knee, indicating an injury.

Coach Thomas Diethart has commented on Pinkelnig's condition, stating that she is in shock. He also mentioned that it is currently difficult to assess her condition accurately. Pinkelnig is currently receiving initial treatment and will be taken to a clinic for further examination, where she will be under the care of knee specialist Dr. Christian Fink.

It is worth noting that the ski jumps in Val di Fiemme are newly built and are being tested for the upcoming Winter Olympics, which are scheduled for February. The first test is the Summer Grand Prix.

Pinkelnig's fall during the test jump comes as a setback for the Austrian ski jumping team, who were looking forward to a successful season. The team and fans alike are hoping for a speedy recovery for the 37-year-old athlete.
