Olympic Gold Medallist Emma Finucane Aims to Inspire Girls in Track Cycling

Emma Finucane, the world's top-ranked track sprinter and Olympic gold medallist, is using her platform to inspire more girls to take up track cycling. The 25-year-old, who made her Olympic debut at 21, aims to give back to the sport that has brought her so much success.

Finucane, who began cycling at six and started keeping a scrapbook of her Olympic ambitions at 10, hopes to share her passion with the next generation. She plans to pursue coaching courses, including a qualification at the German Coaching Academy, and give school talks in the run-up to the 2028 LA Olympics.

The three-time world champion and former European champion believes in setting off-bike goals to excel on the bike. She didn't know about track sprinting's achievability for women as a child but has since become a trailblazer, becoming the first British woman in 60 years to win three medals at a single Games in Paris.

Finucane, who is looking for a better balance and freedom in her life as she works towards the 2028 Olympics, recently held a meet-and-greet session with fellow Olympic champion Sophie Capewell at the British National Track Championships. She hopes her efforts will inspire more girls to join the sport and create a new generation of track cycling stars.
