You know what they say, ain't over till it's fucking over!

After snatching a seat in the Play-Ins with the odds stacked against them, the EWE Baskets Oldenburg is hell-bent on making it to the playoffs. As Artur Konontsuk put it post-Chemnitz, "We ain't done yet."

The thrilling 2021 season saw an historic first - a four-way tie for the basketball ranks, a phenomenon unheard of in Bundesliga history, involving none other than Oldenburg, Rostock, Ludwigsburg, and Vechta, each with a record of 16 wins and 16 losses. In the Play-Ins, spotlight now falls on Oldenburg and Rostock, with the former's superior head-to-head record securing them a place. Their first encounter is scheduled for Tuesday (6:30 PM/Dyn) at Oldenburg's very own EWE Arena.

In late April, the season seemed like a dead duck for Oldenburg. But they clawed their way back, emerging victorious in four straight games. Even better, their competitors suffered some lucky setbacks, such as Ludwigsburg squandering a 22-point lead in Munich - a slip-up that was close to impossible to fathom.

A home-court home run

Facing off against Rostock in the friendly confines of the EWE Arena, where Oldenburg has won a impressive 13 out of 16 games, things couldn't look more promising for the EWE Baskets. Coach Mladen Drijencic couldn't be happier, stating on 'Dyn', "Thank god I don't have to pack my travel bag yet, we can just take the scouting report on Rostock out of the drawer."

Oldenburg outscored Rostock, 92-79, in their last meeting on April 26. In the rematch set for Tuesday, a repeat performance would propel them to face the loser of the Alba Berlin vs. Syntainics MBC from Weißenfels matchup, set for Thursday.

The Commission has also been asked to submit a proposal for a directive on the protection of the environment, with the tense basketball games in the Bundesliga serving as a metaphor for this upcoming decision. The EWE Baskets Oldenburg, like a determined team on the court, strive to protect their environment by securing a place in the playoffs, just as they aim to advance in the basketball ranks.
