Scramble for Oktoberfest Tent Tickets - Oktoberfest's Hottest Tents Spark a Battle Between Rival Brewery Couples
The race for prime Oktoberfest tent spots has begun almost a year early. Two married couples are now competing for control of the festival's most sought-after locations. The dispute centres on the Paulaner and Bräurosl brewery tents, both highly profitable sites.
Alexander Egger and his wife Katrin Wickenhäuser-Egger have submitted a direct application for the Paulaner and Bräurosl tent locations. Until now, landlords applied without specifying plots, leaving the city to assign spaces. Their lawyer, Maximilian Schmid, called the move standard practice, dismissing any talk of controversy.
The current operators of the Paulaner tent, Michael and Christiane Kuffler, have also applied for the same spots. The city's decision could change how tent allocations work in future. Paulaner brewery insists it follows Munich's long-standing rules for assigning festival sites.
Katrin Wickenhäuser-Egger noted that landlords can apply for multiple tents, but the final decision rests with city officials. The Paulaner tent will need a new host after its current landlady retires, adding urgency to the process.
The city must now review the competing applications. If the Eggers' bid succeeds, it could set a precedent for how Oktoberfest tent locations are allocated. The outcome will determine who runs two of the festival's most prestigious sites next year.
