Oktoberfest Revellers Splash Out on Luxury Champagne
Oktoberfest revellers are splashing out on luxury champagne, with top brands like Veuve Clicquot and Ruinart on offer at Kuffler's wine tent. However, some are criticising the extravagant celebrations on social media.
Champagne prices at Kuffler's tent range from 159 euros for a liter bottle of Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Brut to a staggering 5500 euros for a 15-liter bottle of Veuve Clicquot Nebukadnezar, perfect for a champagne shower. Other sizes and varieties, including Ruinart Rosé Brut and Geldermann Sekt, are also available.
Social media users have been critical of the lavish spending. One commenter described a large bottle being 'maltreated' in an act of 'sheer brutality'. Others have labelled the celebrations 'show-offs' and 'decadent'. Last year, a video of a group cheering as a waiter dropped a 15-liter bottle of luxury champagne went viral, highlighting the extravagance.
Despite the criticism, champagne remains a popular choice at Oktoberfest. One visitor was heard asking, 'Who needs beer when you can also drink champagne?' The most famous champagne producers, such as Veuve Clicquot and Ruinart, continue to be served at Kuffler's Weinzelt, catering to those who want to indulge in the finer things while celebrating.
