The Edmonton Oilers have signed Czech defenceman Tomas Cibulka to a two-year entry-level contract. The deal, announced on 27 March 2026, will see the 21-year-old join the team for the 2026-27 season. Cibulka, a native of Ceske Budejovice, has spent the last two seasons playing for HC Motor Ceske Budejovice in Czechia's top league. Over 90 regular-season games, he recorded 42 points (13 goals, 29 assists) and added 10 points (1 goal, 9 assists) in 13 playoff matches.
Before turning professional, Cibulka played junior hockey in Canada. From 2021 to 2024, he skated for the Val-d'Or Foreurs and Cape Breton Eagles in the QMJHL, totaling 102 points (18 goals, 84 assists) across 191 games. His international experience includes a bronze medal with Czechia at the 2024 World Junior Championship, where he scored twice in seven games. Standing at 6'0" and weighing 176 lbs, the young defenceman brings a mix of offensive production and experience from both European and North American hockey.
Cibulka's contract with the Oilers marks his first NHL opportunity. The two-year deal will begin next season, giving him time to adapt to the professional game in North America. His signing adds depth to Edmonton's defensive prospects.
