Official travel to designated hotels in Karachi, Pakistan, now faces restrictions due to received threats.

In recent developments, both the U.S. and British governments have issued travel advisories for the city of Karachi, Pakistan, due to a reported security threat targeting high-end hotels.

The U.S. Consulate General in Karachi has temporarily restricted official visits to certain hotels in the city. The State Department has also limited visits by official U.S. government personnel to these hotels, citing the significant threat they pose. The security alert issued by the State Department advises people to avoid crowded areas and keep a low profile.

The report, written by Bhargav Acharya and Ryan Patrick Jones in Toronto, does not provide information about any specific new threat or incident that led to the travel advisories. However, the threat is specific to high-end hotels in Karachi, such as the Pearl Continental Hotel Karachi, Mövenpick Hotel Karachi, Karachi Marriott Hotel, Avari Towers Karachi, and Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Karachi Airport Hotel.

Britain's foreign ministry has also issued an advisory against all but essential travel to parts of Pakistan. The report does not specify which parts of the country the advisory applies to.

The State Department's current travel advisory for Pakistan advises U.S. citizens to reconsider traveling to the country due to the risk of terrorism and potential for armed conflict. The decision to restrict visits by official U.S. government personnel is in response to the reported threat in Karachi.

It is important to note that there is no available evidence naming specific affected hotels in relation to the U.S. temporary travel restrictions. For the most accurate and updated information, consulting official U.S. government travel advisories or embassy notices is recommended.
