Official Launch of the 2019 Global Investors' Meet in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, Overseen by the Prime Minister

In a grand event held in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Rising Himachal, the Global Investors' Meet 2019. The occasion was a celebration of the state's rich culture, with local performers dressed in traditional attire and playing traditional musical instruments, welcoming the Prime Minister with warmth and enthusiasm.

The Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Jai Ram Thakur, extended a heartfelt welcome to the Prime Minister and congratulated him for his presence. Thakur also mentioned the state's ambitious target of attracting an investment of Rs. 85,000 crore, and so far, 603 MoUs have been signed for an investment of Rs 92,439 crore.

The Prime Minister, in his address, congratulated Thakur for organising the event and welcomed all the "Wealth Creators" to the meet. He appreciated the state government's efforts in creating an investor-friendly environment, such as the single window clearance system, sector-specific policies, and transparent land allotment.

The Prime Minister went around the exhibition stall and showed keen interest in the various initiatives and investment opportunities discussed at the event. He released the Coffee Table Book 'Investors Haven Rising Himachal' on this occasion, which showcases the state's potential for industrial growth and investment opportunities.

The key initiatives and investment opportunities discussed at the Rising Himachal Global Investors' Meet 2019 are aligned with the Himachal Pradesh Industrial Investment Policy launched in September 2019. This policy aims to boost the industrial sector, especially MSMEs, through various incentives and special attention. The main areas of focus and opportunities include promoting sectors such as agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, and limestone mining, creating an ecosystem compatible with industries, facilitating ease of doing business, encouraging start-ups and entrepreneurship, supporting large investments, and addressing social development.

Infrastructure development is another key focus area, with major investments planned, such as the Government’s plan to invest Rs. 1,730 crore to modernize medical colleges in the state, enhancing healthcare infrastructure, technology, and skilled human resources.

The Prime Minister also described Himachal as having immense potential for conference tourism, which is expected to contribute significantly to the state's economy. The event, Rising Himachal, the Global Investors' Meet 2019, marks a significant step towards making Himachal Pradesh an attractive destination for both domestic and foreign investors.
