New Multi-Purpose Riding Hall Opens in Moritzburg, Saxony

A new multi-purpose riding hall has been officially opened in Moritzburg, Germany, marking the completion of a significant project in the modernization program of the State Stud's grounds. The new facility, funded by the Free State of Saxony's budget, is expected to benefit future generations of equestrians and spectators alike.

The new riding hall, spanning an impressive 4,200 square meters, offers ideal conditions for both humans and horses. It is designed to accommodate 824 visitors and is equipped with comfortable seats, some of which feature under-seat and infrared heating, ensuring a comfortable viewing experience for spectators.

The riding hall caters to a variety of equestrian disciplines, including dressage, show jumping, and carriage driving. It boasts a spacious, covered arena with high-quality footing, ensuring safety and optimal performance for the horses. Additional amenities include warm-up areas, stables, training rooms, and event facilities, making it a versatile space for competitions, clinics, training, education, and events.

One unique feature of the new riding hall is an ebb and flow system that can add or remove moisture from the sand, providing optimal footing conditions for the horses regardless of the weather. This system, along with climate control features, allows events to be enjoyed even in cold temperatures.

The new riding hall was constructed over a period of two and a half years and was officially handed over to the Head of the State Stud, Kati Schöpke, on Tuesday. The State Stud's grounds have been comprehensively modernized since 2007, with this new multi-purpose riding hall being a key component of the larger modernization program. The total costs of the central project are estimated to be around €27 million.

Saxony's Minister President, Michael Kretschmer, highlighted the benefits of the new riding hall, noting its potential to attract international equestrian events and boost tourism in the region. For equestrians, the new facility offers improved training conditions and a versatile space for competitions and clinics. For spectators, it provides comfortable viewing, shelter, and a better overall event experience.

Spectators can enjoy watching horse-racing events in the new multi-purpose riding hall, which offers comfortable seats with under-seat and infrared heating. The riding hall, equipped for a variety of equestrian disciplines such as racing, caters to future generations of equestrians and spectators with its spacious and versatile design.
