"Official Announcement: New Installment of the 'Final Destination' Franchise, 'Final Destination 7,' is Confirmed"

The horror franchise "Final Destination" is set to make a comeback in mid-to-late 2027, following the success of the most recent film, Final Destination: Bloodlines, which was released in 2025. While the project has not been formally greenlit by New Line Cinema, producer Jon Watts has expressed strong interest in developing a sequel and is actively scouting ideas, suggesting production could start soon if approved.

The new film, currently titled Final Destination 7, will continue the franchise's tradition of introducing new characters and inventive death sequences. Lori Evans Taylor, who was responsible for the sixth film, is returning as screenwriter for the new project. Taylor co-wrote the screenplay for Bloodlines with Gary Busick.

Final Destination: Bloodlines was a commercial and critical success, grossing over $286 million worldwide and earning strong reviews. The plot saw Death as an ever-present antagonist, pursuing its victims across multiple generations of the same family for the first time. This innovative approach was praised by critics and well-received by audiences, driving the decision to create a sequel.

The success of Bloodlines has solidified the "Final Destination" series as New Line's third-largest horror franchise, with a total worldwide gross of over $983 million. The franchise's latest installment, Bloodlines, was reported to mark a successful comeback for the series after a 14-year hiatus.

In addition to Final Destination 7, Taylor is also working on other projects, including the adaptation of "The Edge of Normal" with Chloe Grace Moretz. Taylor is also collaborating with Ben Affleck on a new film, "I Am Still Alive", for Universal.

The Hollywood Reporter reported on the official confirmation of the new Final Destination film. While plot details are currently under wraps, it is expected that Final Destination 7 will continue the franchise’s tradition of death’s inescapable design targeting a new group.
