Officers Thwarted an Attack on the AfD's Exhibition Booth

In the heart of Bremen's Walle neighbourhood, a counter-protest took place near an AfD information booth on Saturday. Approximately 150 participants gathered to voice their opposition to the information provided by the AfD.

Before the counter-protest commenced, unknown individuals had vandalised the area around the AfD information booth with spray paint and posters. Slogans such as 'Nazis out' and 'AFD stinks' were found on the sidewalk, while a message reading 'No room for right-wing hate, Solidarity instead of fascism' was spotted on an underpass.

As the counter-protest started, a group of up to 30 masked individuals ran towards the AfD information booth. The police, who had been accompanying both events to prevent any potential conflicts, intervened. A potential attack was thwarted using physical force and a multi-purpose baton. The masked individuals were ordered to remove their masks and leave the area, but they did not comply.

Despite the tense situation, no injuries were reported during the incident. Traffic in the area of Waller Ring/Waller Heerstraße and Osterfeuerberger Ring/Ratzeburger Straße was disrupted due to the police intervention.

Shortly after noon, the counter-protest dispersed, and the AfD information booth was dismantled. The vandalized banners were removed, and a criminal complaint was filed under the Assembly Act for the offenses that occurred during the events.

It is not specified if any new vandalism occurred during the dismantling of the information booth, nor if any other incidents took place after the counter-protest dispersed. The Press Office of Police Bremen can be contacted for further information at the provided contact details.
