Busting corruption in Kazakhstan has been a ongoing battle, and recent reports shed light on some significant sentencing of influential figures.

🔥Aktau Region:The Shalkar District Court pronounced a ruling against Zairimbet B., the deputy akim of the district, and Bermukhambayev A., the head of the district's housing and utilities department. Both were found guilty of taking a 2.3 million tenge bribe from the head of a commercial organization in exchange for endorsing completed work acts, processing payments, and offering overall protection. The court handed them a six-year prison sentence each, with a lifetime ban from holding any position in the state service, judiciary, or local government.

The verdict isn't final yet—the agency leaves us with a friendly reminder: "In accordance with subparagraph 1 of paragraph 3 of Article 77 of the Constitution and part 1 of Article 19 of the Criminal Procedure Code, everyone is considered innocent until proven guilty by a court of law."

Last week, we learned that the acting head of the Department of Sanitary and Epidemiological Control of Aktau region and his deputy also got nabbed for bribery.

🔥North Kazakhstan Region:In another district, the deputy akim and the head of the district's housing and utilities department fell prey to bribery charges. The court, concurring with the prosecution, sentenced all parties, including the bribe-giver, to prison terms ranging from 3 years and 6 months to 7 years and 6 months.

🔥West Kazakhstan Region:In even more recent news, a man was sentenced for apparently receiving a 50 million tenge bribe from an entrepreneur, meant for a regional akim deputy. He was sentenced to 11 years in prison.

Of course, to delve deeper into corruption cases in specific regions like Aktau, North Kazakhstan, or West Kazakhstan, localized sources and official reports from these regions would be beneficial.

Curious about other regions? Last year, a Kazakh tycoon named Qairat Boranbaev, related to former President Nursultan Nazarbaev's family, was sentenced to eight years in prison for corruption charges in Astana's Saryarqa district, and Nazarbaev's nephew, Qairat Satybaldy, received a six-year prison sentence on corruption charges.

Corruption remains a pervasive issue in various government agencies, and it seems that crackdowns on bribery cases are becoming more frequent.
