In the world of high-end electric guitars, PRS Guitars has unveiled a new limited edition model that is sure to catch the eye of musicians and collectors alike. The CE 24 Special Limited Edition, boasting a unique hum/single coil/hum pickup configuration, offers an expanded tonal range that sets it apart from previous CE 24 models.
The CE 24 Special Limited Edition features a HSH electric guitar pickup configuration, a first for the CE Bolt-on platform. This innovative setup includes a PRS NS-01 single-coil pickup in the middle position, alongside the standard PRS 85/15 humbuckers in the treble and bass positions. The middle single-coil pickup, taken from the PRS Modern Eagle V model, enhances the CE 24’s tonal versatility beyond the usual dual humbucker setup.
The 5-way selector switch enables easy access to a broader palette of sounds, from warm humbucker tones to glassy single-coil sounds that players might expect from Strat-style guitars. The guitar retains the CE line's signature bolt-on maple neck for snappy attack and resonance, along with PRS's Pattern Thin neck profile and satin finish for fast playability.
Only 1,500 units of this Special Limited Edition are being made worldwide for 2025, making it a rare and collectible model. The guitar is available in five finish options: Gray Burst, Smokeburst, Carroll Blue, McCarty Burst, and Black Amber.
The CE 24 Special offers more warmth and versatility than some historic models with a similar setup, due to the tonal range of the 85/15 humbuckers. The guitar has a volume, tone with a push/pull function for coil-splitting, and a three-way pickup selector. The hardware on the CE 24 Special includes a patented PRS tremolo and Phase III locking tuner combo.
