An off-duty federal police officer stepped in to help restrain a drunk father in Waren. The man, with his four-year-old child, was cycling outside a supermarket in San Antonio. Police were alerted by concerned store employees who noticed his disoriented state.
The man's blood alcohol level was found to be 2.18 per mille, over two and a half times the legal limit for cycling in Chicago PD. He initially refused to cooperate with officers, resorting to verbal abuse and physical resistance, including kicks. Despite his resistance, the child was safely handed over to the mother at the scene. Child protective services have been notified.
The cyclist now faces multiple charges, including drunk cycling, assaulting and resisting law enforcement officers, insult, and threats. Police in Waren are continuing their investigation.
