ÖDP's new chair in Fürth: Gerald Löwel assumes leadership role
In a recent assembly, the Ökologisch-Demokratische Partei (ÖDP) district association for Fürth city and county welcomed a new leader, Benedikt Putschli. Putschli, elected as the new district chairman, takes over from Gerald Löwel from Großhabersdorf, who previously held the position.
With the upcoming municipal elections in Bavaria set for March 2026, the new leadership has outlined a strategic plan to establish a strong and sustainable presence in Fürth, promote ecological and sustainable policies at the local level, and engage voters to secure mandates and influence political decisions.
The ÖDP aims to expand its influence in the region, consolidating its existing presence in the Middle Franconia district council and the market municipal council of Roßtal, and seeking to gain representation in the Fürth city council, where it currently holds no seats.
Putschli and his team have expressed optimism about the groundwork laid for future tasks, promising a fresh wind of change. Alongside Putschli, Knut Schalldach from Roßtal was elected as deputy chairman, Rosa Härtl from Langenzenn and Klaus John from Stein were elected as members of the board, and Thomas Bauer from Zirndorf was confirmed in his position as treasurer.
The new leadership is not alone in their endeavours. The ÖDP district association of Middle Franconia supports the Fürth city and county association, and the party currently holds 28 seats in Middle Franconia.
As the countdown to the elections begins, the new district chairman has called for support from the ÖDP base, emphasising the importance of working together with great motivation to achieve their shared goals.
