Octopus Energy Offers Free Electricity This Weekend Amid Storm Amy

Octopus Energy customers are in for a treat this weekend, with free electricity on offer for millions of households. This comes as wholesale energy prices are expected to dip below zero due to high winds from Storm Amy. Meanwhile, energy bills are set to rise for many this week due to Ofgem's new price cap.

Octopus Energy's innovative Agile tariff is making headlines again. Households on this plan could see their energy bills drop to zero or even go into credit today, with nine hours of negative prices expected. This is due to the tariff's unique pricing structure, which changes every half hour. Customers on other Octopus tariffs, such as Octopus Go, will also benefit from free electricity this weekend during the company's Savings Sessions scheme. These sessions will run from 12pm to 2pm on Saturday and 11am to 12pm on Sunday.

Customers on the Agile tariff have already seen five hours of negative prices today, with more expected later in the afternoon. This is a result of high winds from Storm Amy pushing wholesale energy prices below zero. Octopus Energy estimates that customers on the Agile tariff have saved an average of £268 over the last 12 months compared to those on its standard variable tariff.

In a week where energy bills are set to rise for many, Octopus Energy customers can enjoy some relief with free electricity this weekend. The Agile tariff's unique pricing structure and the Savings Sessions scheme are providing real savings for customers. As Storm Amy brings high winds and negative energy prices, millions of households can look forward to paying nothing for their electricity this weekend.
