Öcher Schängche city puppet theater to debut in the 2025/26 theatrical season
The city puppet theater "Öcher Schängche" is gearing up for an exciting new season, starting on September 21st. The season will commence with the performance of "The Devil in Aachen", a show suitable for both children and adults.
For more information about the upcoming season and performances, visit the theater's official website at https://oecher-schaengche.de/. The RSS feed for press releases can also be found at https://www.unsere-webseite.de/rss-feed-pressemitteilungen/rss.xml.
"The Devil in Aachen" tells the story of a mayor of Aachen who seeks help from the devil to fill the city's empty treasury and complete the construction of the cathedral. This performance promises to be a captivating start to the new season.
On September 28th, the first premiere of the season will take place with "The Rat Catcher in Aachen" by Wilhelm Dithmar.
The season includes a revival of the play "The Sealed Mayor" and a much-anticipated premiere of "The Freischütz" by Hein Janssen. In "The Freischütz", Markus Weber will play the role of the Schützenkönig in the 2026/2027 season revival.
The adaptation of "The Freischütz" for the puppet theater is particularly appealing due to the strong contrast between the story's gloomy mood and the comedy brought by the characters Nieres and Schängche.
In addition to these plays, the season features several performances for young audiences, including "Princess Tausendschön", "King Drosselbart", "Tom Thumb", and "The Magic Cauldron".
Admission prices for adults are 5 Euro, reduced 3 Euro. For children, the price is 3 Euro, reduced 2 Euro. Ticket reservations for adult plays are available from Monday to Thursday from 10 AM to 12:30 PM, either by phone (0241 172016) or email ([email protected]). For children's plays, reservations are available each Sunday of the performance from 10 AM to 12:30 PM.
On September 20th, the city puppet theater will present itself at the Kulturhaus Barockfabrik during the great summer festival.
A new addition to the "Öcher Schängche" ensemble is Ina Gröbner. Visitors are encouraged to visit the theater's website for more information and to secure their tickets for an unforgettable puppet theater experience.
