In a less athletics-related news, a TV presenter from Ludwigsburg is receiving lots of support on social media after an NDR cancellation.

The championships were not without their share of injuries. Owe Fischer-Breiholz, the U23 European champion, had to withdraw due to injury at short notice. Frank Busemann, the Atlanta silver medallist, supported Weber during the World Championships.
