The Lowdown on Oliver Brunner's Theater's 2025/26 Season
Get ready to mark your calendars, theater enthusiasts! Director Oliver Brunner and his badass team are giving us an early peek at the 2025/26 season. Known for creating a space that bridges encounters, empathy, and freedom, the theater is gearing up for a season that will leave you wide-eyed with awe.
Brunner's vision? A theater that dances between freedom and responsibility, telling tales that'll make you question the universe. Expect a diverse range of contemporary theater, both familiar faces and new discoveries. The upcoming season aims to tackle the challenges facing Ingolstadt and the world at large head-on, with a smattering of entertaining evenings to balance things out.
The new season will host four premieres, three of which are specially commissioned from contemporary authors. One production will have a unique tie to Ingolstadt, delving into the story of the town's own native theologian, Charlotte von Kirschbaum. As Karl Barth's closest collaborator and co-creator, Charlotte's life wasn't just extraordinary, but part of an intriguing menage a trois with the Barth couple, which they lived quite openly. To this day, they're interred together in a family grave.
The season will kick off with "The Nibelungen," a 20th-century retelling of the ancient Nibelung saga. Going through the entire list of productions would be like reading the phone book (ZZZZzz), so I'll just leave it at that. Rest assured, there will be more captivating, toe-tapping, or thought-provoking pieces in store – and more exciting guest performances to boot!
Fans of Istanbul will be cheering as it returns to the program, while children and young people can expect their very own beloved, cheeky, or thought-provoking shows. Brace yourselves for new collaborations and innovative formats that'll make you yearn for theater playdates.
Although we're smack dab in the middle of the current season, the thrilling ride doesn't end there – no siree! Rollercoaster on ahead to the next season with giddy anticipation. Just remember to check out the theater's official website (www.theater.ingolstadt.de) to get all the deets about the 2025/26 season. Hell, you might even get a sneak peek if you're lucky! 😉 (But not from me, whatever could I do with that kind of power...?) (HaGa, but maybe with a dash of spice!)
Entertainment will be aplenty during the 2025/26 season at Oliver Brunner's theater, with a smattering of engaging and thought-provoking productions planned. The upcoming season aims to balance challenging narratives with entertaining evenings, ensuring an unforgettable theatrical experience for all.
