Charitable Barber Angels Bring Community Spirits to Wacken Open Air

At this year's Wacken Open Air (WOA) festival in Germany, the Barber Angels Brotherhood is returning for their fifth time to provide metalheads with a unique experience - a haircut for a good cause.

Founded in 2016 in Swabia, the Barber Angels are a club of hairstylists who offer free haircuts and grooming services primarily to homeless and marginalized individuals. During the WOA, they set up a makeshift barbershop where festival-goers can get a trim, often for a donation.

The Barber Angels have been a popular attraction at the WOA, with about 50 to 100 customers visiting their tent daily without appointments. This year, they have expanded their team to include hairstylists from Austria, Spain, and Norway, reflecting their growing presence in various countries.

While specific details about their activities in these countries are less prominent in the recent data, their core mission remains the same - to help those in need by providing dignity through grooming services.

Lisa from Düsseldorf, a regular WOA attendee, has noticed the eagerness of metal fans to get their hair combed and blown dry at the Barber Angels' tent. She expects many muddy heads by the end of the festival, a testament to the festival's energetic spirit.

Metal fans have shown great generosity, with some donating up to 100 euros just for a braided beard. Half of the donations go to the Wacken Foundation and the association, which use the funds to buy care utensils for the needy.

Kai from Ahrensburg in Schleswig-Holstein, a supporter of the Barber Angels, praises their work. However, Kai, who has a short haircut, is not a recipient of their services as he doesn't have enough hair to donate.

The Barber Angels offer more than just a haircut. They are a symbol of community spirit and charitable giving within the metal festival scene. Their presence at the WOA not only provides metalheads with a unique experience but also raises awareness and fosters solidarity for those in need.
