Obama administration alumni continue to politicize Trump-Russia intelligence, according to DNI Gabbard, who asserts their actions.
In a series of revelations, former Democratic presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard has accused the Obama administration of playing a role in the Russian influence campaign during the 2016 presidential election.
Gabbard, who is now a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, has released over 100 declassified documents that suggest Obama administration officials may have laid the groundwork for the Trump-Russia collusion probe. She has also accused them of politicizing intelligence and setting the stage for a "years-long coup" against President Donald Trump.
According to Gabbard, the consensus on potential Russian influence changed after President Trump's victory in the 2016 election. She alleges that former President Barack Obama directed the IC (Intelligence Community) to create a new intelligence assessment detailing Russian election meddling, contradicting multiple earlier intelligence assessments.
However, the Senate Intelligence Committee's investigation did not find evidence that then-candidate Trump or his campaign colluded with the Russian government. The committee did find that the Russian government engaged in an aggressive, multi-faceted effort to influence the outcome of the 2016 presidential election, working to undermine confidence in U.S. democratic institutions and voting processes.
Tulsi Gabbard has sent a criminal referral to the Department of Justice over the declassified documents, and she has expressed her desire to find the truth about the Trump-Russia investigation and bring accountability to the American people. She told Fox News host Jesse Watters that she will continue pursuing this accountability.
The 2020 bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee report, backed by Sen. Marco Rubio, found that Russia did not hack election infrastructure such as changing votes or manipulating voting machines. The report affirmed the widely accepted conclusion that Russia worked to influence the 2016 presidential election but did not successfully manipulate any votes.
In response to Gabbard's allegations, an Obama spokesperson has pushed back, stating that the findings affirmed in the 2020 report support the widely accepted conclusion that Russia worked to influence the 2016 presidential election but did not successfully manipulate any votes. Ned Price, a former Obama NSC official, has also argued that Gabbard is trying to overturn "established facts with conspiratorial fiction."
Trump has accused Obama of "treason" following Gabbard's revelations. Recently, Trump reposted a video on his Truth Social account that appeared to show Obama being arrested in the Oval Office.
As the investigation continues, Gabbard claims there were "deep state obstacles" in releasing her information about the Trump-Russia collusion investigation. Despite these challenges, she has vowed to continue her pursuit of accountability for the American people.
