How I solved the puzzle:

🙌 PENTACLES stands out as a card suit in a tarot deck. CUPS, SWORDS, and WANDS are also tarot suits.🙌 RECOVER, MEND, and HEAL look like straightforward synonyms. KNIT and SAVE could both potentially fit there too, but opel and choral sound like something you might find in a jewelry store, right?🙌 QUARTS (quartz) and CHORAL (coral) work as homophones. OPEL (opal) and PURL (pearl) also fit. Used the process of elimination! The words that were more common as homophones ended up being my answer.

How to play Connections:

  1. Find the Connections game either on the New York Times website or in their Games app (formerly the Crossword app).
  2. Check out the game board with 16 tiles, each containing one word or phrase.
  3. Pick a group of four tiles that have something in common.
  4. Submit your answer. If you guessed correctly, the category and color will be revealed.
  5. Keep going until you've identified all four groups.
  6. Don't make four mistakes or the game will end, and the answers will be revealed.

How to win Connections:

  1. Be aware that the groupings are designed to be tricky.
  2. Keep an eye out for overlapping groups.
  3. If you're stuck, consider looking at the words that seem to have no connection to the others.
  4. Don't submit an answer until you're confident that the grouping contains only the four things.
