In celebration of NYT Connections' first birthday, we've compiled a list of the most challenging puzzles that have graced our screens since its launch. From Strands to Wordle, these brain-teasers have tested our wits and kept us guessing.

Strands Puzzles

"Thar she blows"! (January 15)

The Strands puzzle themed "Thar she blows" proved to be a whale of a challenge. The toughest words in this puzzle were BALEEN and RIGHT. If you're still struggling, remember to look for the N that's four letters down on the far-left row, and wind across and down. Today's spangram is NONDAIRYMILK.

"Wow, no cow." (Today's Puzzle)

The current Strands puzzle is themed "Pour it on". The clue for today's puzzle is "Wow, no cow." The non-spangram answers are RICE, FLAX, ALMOND, CASHEW, COCONUT, and MACADAMIA.

"Dated slang" (January 21)

Another challenging Strands puzzle was themed "Dated slang", with PHAT being the toughest word.

"Off the hook" (January 9)

Yet another tough Strands puzzle was themed "Off the hook", with BIGEYE and SKIPJACK being the trickiest words to guess.

Unlocking Hints

To unlock in-game hints in Strands, you'll need to find words of four letters or more. Some example words that can help you unlock hints include NONE, CONE, RICER, SHEW, FAIR, FAIRY, DRAY, YARD, MILK, CASH, DONE, DRAM, and MADAM.
