NYC Mayoral Candidate Faces ridicule for "demonic" Breakfast Demand

NYC Mayoral Aspiree Andrew Cuomo's Breakfast Order Facing Flak

Andrew Cuomo, the NYC mayoral hopeful, found himself in hot water when he declared his preference for an English muffin over a bagel for breakfast in a recent interview.

The outrage began when Cuomo was grilled with the question, "What's your bagel order or favorite breakfast sandwich?" during a Q&A for the New York Times. Cuomo sheepishly admitted, "Bacon, cheese and egg on an English muffin, and then I try to take off the bacon, but I don't really take off the bacon." He went on to add, "The bagel I try to stay away from, to keep my girlish figure."

The candid confession has been met with relentless disapproval from New Yorkers, who view this as a severe misstep. One individual mentioned, "I have never seen my Jewish father so distraught as when he read that Andrew Cuomo's bagel order is an English muffin."

Another commenter added, "I don't understand how you don't have a normal answer to 'what kind of bagel do you like' when YOU'RE RUNNING FOR MAYOR OF NEW YORK CITY."

Some critics dubbed Cuomo's choice as "diabolical," while others questioned his New York ties, with comments such as "Cuomo saying 'bacon, cheese and egg' and not 'bacon, egg, and cheese' shows his true colors."

With the 2025 primary election in the heavily blue-leaning Big Apple looming, some social media users worry that this misstep could impact Cuomo's chances of winning. However, despite the food flap, Cuomo remains a favorite, but there have been signs that contender Zohran Mamdani is gaining traction.

While Cuomo is not the first to exhibit unorthodox eating habits in NYC, as one commenter put it, "NYC did elect a mayor who ate pizza with a fork and knife." This reference likely refers to former Mayor Bill de Blasio, who caused a major stir in 2014 by eating a New York slice with utensils[6].

The news of Andrew Cuomo's breakfast preference has sparked a social-media frenzy, with New Yorkers expressing their disapproval over his choice of an English muffin instead of a bagel. Amidst the controversy, some critics have questioned Cuomo's ties to New YorkCity's pop-culture and entertainment scene, with references to his unconventional breakfast order and his relationship with the city's beloved food traditions.
