Misdirected Shooting Occurs Near NFL Headquarters in Manhattan

A shooting incident took place on Monday evening at 6:00 pm local time in Manhattan, New York, near the NFL headquarters. The intended target was the NFL headquarters, located in a 44-story building at 345 Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. However, the shooter, 27-year-old Shane Tamura, ended up at a different location due to taking the wrong elevator.

Tamura's grievances were reportedly related to the NFL's handling of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a degenerative brain disease linked to repeated head trauma in contact sports. Despite his intended target, the shooting took place inside a high-rise office building near Park Avenue, not the NFL headquarters itself. The actual location of the attack was Rudin Management's offices, where at least five people, including a police officer, were tragically killed.

One NFL employee was seriously injured in the attack and is currently in stable condition. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell reassured staff that all employees are safe and accounted for following the shooting. Goodell also commended law enforcement for their swift response and expressed his support for the NFL family, expressing confidence in getting through this incident together.

Additional security measures will be put in place to ensure the safety of the NFL community and the general public. Employees in New York were asked to work remotely or take the day off on Tuesday as a precaution.

Shane Tamura was found with a letter referencing his grievances against the NFL. He intended to target the NFL headquarters but ended up at the wrong location due to taking the incorrect elevator.

The NYPD officer who lost his life in the shooting was paid tribute to by Goodell, and the NFL staff are supporting the injured employee's family during this difficult time. The building has nearly been cleared, and the investigation is ongoing.
