Evan: A balance is essential, but I'm not one to hit the gym every day or follow strict diets. Growing up in Hawaii, we didn't think about that at all. My lifestyle demands having to be slim and fit, but it comes naturally with the things I love and appreciate. It's just everyday outdoor activities like surfing, skating, hiking, or walking in the sand.

Of course, I don't ignore my body as I've gotten older. But I'm not at the point where I feel the urge to hit the gym daily.

So, let's talk about that mannequin Louis Vuitton modeled after you. As someone who hadn't thought much about appearances, what was it like to see a version of yourself on the fashion scene?

Evan: Seeing a mannequin modeled after me was beyond bizarre, but the experience became even more special when I visited the factory in France during Virgil Abloh's tenure at Louis Vuitton. It was like seeing a surreal version of myself in multiple places around the world. I even had friends send me photos with "me" under their arms. It's a memory I'll cherish forever.

Was there anything about it that you thought, I don't know if they got that part right?

Evan: Not at all, my mannequin was a carbon copy of me, down to the last detail. The 3D scanning process using hundreds of cameras was really fascinating to witness.

Speaking of Louis Vuitton, I have to ask about this. You got your hands on a pre-release sample of the skate shoe Virgil designed with Lucien Clarke. You mentioned microwaving it for a better fit. Is that a fact or an old trick from your skateboarding days?

Evan: That's an old trick, pros would microwave their shoes when I was a kid. The secret is to put the shoe in the microwave for one minute on one side, followed by another 30 seconds after putting your foot in it. This process molds the shoe to your feet, as if it's been worn for multiple skating sessions.

Are we on Popcorn setting or Baked Potato?

Evan: My microwave didn't have those specific settings back then.

Since branching out to fashion and acting, how have you balanced working in multiple exclusive industries?

Evan: My success is all about having a great friend group or circle around me, people who support me unconditionally in whatever I choose to do. The naysayers are either jealous or afraid. I don't waste my energy on them.
