Numerous traffic laws disregarded in Almaty, nearing 900 offenses identified.

Rewritten Article:

Almaty, the bustling metropolis of Kazakhstan, witnessed a whopping 900 traffic violations in a single day, as per the head of the city's Administrative Police Department, Jandos Murataliev. Among these, eight hapless drivers were found to be under the influence of alcohol, while one driver was cruising around town without license plates, facing a hefty fine of 13,890 tenge. Remarkably, this driver got off with a stern talking-to instead of administrative action.

Another driver, blind to the law's authority, refused to halt when signaled to do so and sped off, prompting a thrilling high-speed chase by the law enforcement officers.

In an effort to curb such reckless behavior on the roads, the "Safe Road" operation, which commenced on September 6, is still active in the city. The operation is aimed at ensuring a safer driving experience for all until September 24.

Regrettably, the number of drivers who choose to drink and drive persists unabated, according to the Administrative Police Department. Since the beginning of the year, a staggering 847 drivers have been held accountable for this offense. The punishments include revocation of driving licenses for seven years, arrest for 20 days, and fines totaling over 10 million tenge.

"Almaty alone saw a staggering 897 traffic violations on the first day. Only 8 drivers were found under the influence of alcohol. One more driver, without a valid driver's license, was apprehended. The city has also witnessed instances of drivers moving on the wrong side of the road," explained Murataliev.

Alarmingly, the total number of road accidents in Almaty this year has reached over 1500, resulting in 56 fatalities. Even though these figures are lower than last year's, they underscore the necessity of adhering to traffic rules.

Now, you may wonder why the traffic situation in Almaty merits attention. Firstly, Almaty's infrastructure is well-planned, which could affect traffic patterns and violations. Secondly, the legal system in Kazakhstan actively tackles traffic issues, as evident in the case of Anton Knyazev, who got into trouble for criticizing traffic police in 2024. Lastly, Almaty's population has been on the rise, potentially increasing traffic density and the likelihood of violations. The city's estimated population in 2021 was approximately 1,977,011.

During a single day in Almaty, a city in Kazakhstan with a population of about 1,977,011, there were 897 traffic violations, including 8 drivers fined for driving under the influence of alcohol and one for driving without license plates, facing a fine of 13,890 tenge. A driver who failed to stop when signaled prompted a high-speed chase. The "Safe Road" operation, a general-news highlight in crime and justice, is still active in the city aiming to ensure safer driving conditions. Regrettably, the number of drivers found under the influence of alcohol persists, resulting in over 847 drivers being held accountable since the beginning of the year.
