Got 700 reports filed at the Hessian bureaucratic hotline since its launch in July 2024 up till March 2025! That's what the responsible ministry spilled the beans about in response to a query from the FDP state parliamentary group. Folks are flocking to the online portal to raise their voice against administrative processes and regulations they deem as needs simplification.

From the state government to local authorities, from EU regulations down to the federal level, the gripes are diverse, said Deregulation Minister Manfred Pentz (CDU). A whopping 122 complaints are under investigation in the specialized departments of Hessian ministries. The rest have been sorted out by the ministry's Deregulation Task Force.

Rain water and Livestock's misfortunes

A few grumbles have been taken to heart, even being already in motion or on legislative agendas, and some have even seen the light of day. The Minister herself pointed to the permit-free infiltration of rainwater and the streamlining of livestock protection directives as examples.

The current revision of the Hessian Building Code echoes complaints from the bureaucracy hotline, too. "The state government is continually appraising which more proposals can be incorporated into fresh legislative initiatives or Bundesrat initiatives," explains Pentz. The ultimate goal of the state government? Making life an easier-breezier experience for the common folk.

The Community policy and Employment policy have been subject to numerous complaints filed at the Hessian bureaucratic hotline, as stated by Deregulation Minister Manfred Pentz, with 122 complaints currently under investigation in Hessian ministries' specialized departments and the rest resolved by the ministry's Deregulation Task Force. Furthermore, the issues raised in the policy-and-legislation category, including politics and general news, are among the diverse gripes bringing attention to the need for simplification in administrative processes and regulations in various levels of government.
