Trump has announced that he has ordered nuclear submarines to be relocated following allegedly inflammatory statements made by a Russian official.

Nuclear submarines have been ordered to be repositioned by Trump in response to 'provocative' comments made by a Russian official, according to Trump's statement.

In a series of recent developments, former President Donald Trump has ordered the deployment of two U.S. nuclear submarines to a specific region near Russia. This strategic move comes in response to aggressive remarks by Dmitry Medvedev, the former president of Russia, and is part of an ongoing effort to counteract escalating tensions around the Ukraine conflict.

Trump made his statement during an interview with Newsmax, later reiterating it to reporters. He stated that the submarines were moved closer to Russia as a precautionary measure, aimed at stopping the war in Ukraine. However, it remains unclear if the submarines have nuclear weapon capabilities or are nuclear-powered.

Medvedev's comments, which referenced Russia’s nuclear strike capabilities and a hypothetical doomsday device capable of retaliatory nuclear counterstrikes, appear to have prompted Trump's decision. Medvedev, who often acts as more of an attack dog than a real decision-maker inside the Kremlin, has been known to make provocative statements.

In response, the Kremlin, through spokesman Dmitry Peskov, called for restraint and caution regarding nuclear rhetoric. Peskov also downplayed the announcement, stating that U.S. submarine deployments are routine military operations, and Russian President Vladimir Putin has not publicly responded to the escalations.

Trump's foreign envoy, Steve Witkoff, is set to travel to Russia in the coming days. Trump has also threatened to impose new sanctions on Moscow, should the situation continue to escalate.

This latest development evokes nuclear saber rattling reminiscent of the Cold War, adding a tense exchange of strategic postures and rhetoric to the already volatile situation. Russia, however, continues to advocate nuclear restraint and avoid direct escalation publicly.

  1. The deployment of U.S. nuclear submarines closer to Russia, as ordered by former President Donald Trump, is part of the ongoing politics surrounding the war-and-conflicts in Ukraine, as it is a precautionary measure aimed at stopping the war.
  2. General news outlets are reporting on the aggressive rhetoric from both sides, with former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's comments about Russia's nuclear strike capabilities and Trump's threat of new sanctions on Moscow contributing to the escalating tensions between the two nations.
