NRW Short Track Skating Event: Triumph for Thürstein and Janik
The NRW Short Course Championships, held at the new Sesekebad in Kamen, which opened its doors in May, saw some exceptional performances from two standout swimmers: Laura Thuérstein and Niklas Janik.
Niklas Janik delivered outstanding results, securing three podium places in the competition. He clinched bronze medals in the 50m freestyle, 50m butterfly, and 100m individual medley. His times were impressive: 0:24.79 for the 50m freestyle, 0:26.62 for the 50m butterfly, and 1:03.69 for the 100m individual medley.
In the 20 age group, Laura Thuürstein also made a strong impact. She swam into the top ten in both the 50m butterfly (0:33.85) and the 100m freestyle (1:06.73). Her most notable achievement came in the 100m butterfly, where she secured bronze with a time of 1:19.24.
Laura Thuürstein's success continued as she won silver in the 100m backstroke, touching the wall in 1:14.22.
Both athletes set a strong mark for the upcoming season, confirming their excellent form in the competition. The Sesekebad, with its ideal conditions, provided the perfect backdrop for these exciting performances.
