Novy Urgal’s Boiler Station Fails Again as Winter Freeze Worsens

A boiler station in Novy Urgal, Khabarovsk Krai, suffered an emergency shutdown on December 18, 2025. This marks the second heating system failure in the town during the 2025–26 winter season, leaving residents facing extreme cold.

The breakdown occurred as temperatures in the region plummeted to -42°C. Only one boiler remains operational, with the heat carrier temperature dropping to just 42°C.

Repair crews are now working to restore full heating capacity in Novy Urgal. The repeated failures have raised concerns about the reliability of the town’s heating infrastructure during the harsh winter months.
