From TV to Mini Loans - What's Changing in November - November Brings Changes: Ryanair Ditches Paper Tickets, German TV Goes HD, New Loan Rules

Starting this November, several changes will impact travellers, consumers, and entertainment enthusiasts across Europe. Ryanair passengers will need smartphones for boarding, while German TV viewers will require HD sets to receive major channels. Meanwhile, new regulations will govern 'buy now, pay later' services and consumer loans.

Ryanair is phasing out paper boarding passes, requiring passengers to use smartphones from November 12. Nearly 80% of its 206 million annual passengers already use digital passes. In Germany, outdated TV sets without HD capability will no longer receive ARD and ZDF channels after November 18, with major cable providers like Vodafone and Pyur also phasing out SD public channels by the end of the year.

Starting November 20, 'buy now, pay later' offers and home loans up to €200 in the EU will require a creditworthiness check. Borrowers will also receive clearer information about loan costs due to changes in the EU Consumer Credit Directive. Christmas markets will open early, with many towns negotiating discounted GEMA music licensing fees.

These changes, set to take effect in November, will impact various aspects of daily life. Travellers should ensure they have smartphones for Ryanair flights, while German TV viewers should upgrade to HD sets. Consumers should be aware of new rules governing 'buy now, pay later' services and loan information. The €200 Culture Pass for 18-year-olds will also expire on November 30, with remaining funds usable until then.
