Novak Djokovic Skips Cincinnati Masters-1000 Tournament

Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic will not participate in the upcoming Cincinnati Masters-1000 tournament, as he has withdrawn citing a "non-medical" reason. This decision comes after Djokovic's withdrawal from the Toronto Masters due to a groin injury.

Djokovic's last match was on July 11 at Wimbledon, where he lost in the semi-final against Jannik Sinner from Italy. Since then, he has not played any matches, marking a break of about one and a half months without hard-court tournament preparation or match play.

In his absence, the Cincinnati Masters-1000 tournament will feature two of the current top-ranked players: Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz. Sinner is currently number 1 in the world rankings, while Alcaraz is also a participant in the ATP Tour Masters 1000 series. Both players will use the Masters-1000 tournament in Cincinnati as an opportunity to gain match practice before the US Open, which is scheduled to start in about three weeks.

Sinner and Alcaraz had previously taken a break in Toronto, and will participate in the Masters-1000 tournament in Cincinnati without any match practice since their break in Toronto. However, they will look to make the most of their time in Cincinnati to prepare for the US Open.

The US Open preparation tournament will take place without the tennis star Novak Djokovic, who is a 24-time Grand Slam champion. Despite his lack of match practice, Djokovic is still scheduled to compete at the US Open, where he has won the title four times, with his most recent Grand Slam win at Flushing Meadows in 2023.

The decision not to participate in the Cincinnati Masters-1000 tournament was confirmed by the US organizers, following a report by "The Athletic". It remains to be seen how Djokovic's lack of match practice will affect his performance at the US Open, but fans will be eagerly awaiting his return to the court.
