Spurs' Dream of Champions League Hang by a Thread After Draw Against Forest

Following his return from injury, Austria international Kevin Danso graced the pitch for Tottenham in a disappointing 2:1 home loss against surprise team Nottingham Forest in the English Premier League.

Strikes from Elliot Anderson (5') and Chris Wood (16') had put Forest ahead comfortably before halftime. Nottingham Forest is currently in third place, with dreams of a spot in the Champions League, while Tottenham remains in 16th.

For Danso, this was his first league game since March 9. He had been out for over a month due to a thigh injury. His brief appearance in the Europa League quarter-final second leg against Eintracht Frankfurt (1:0) took place on Thursday. Tottenham has won only one of their last seven league games, with Richarlison's late header (87') coming too little, too late.

Despite the loss, Forest’s third-place standing in the Premier League still offers a glimmer of hope for Champions League qualification. Unfortunately, their chances were severely dented by a 1-0 loss to Chelsea on the final day of the season, eliminating their chances for automatic qualification and ending their aspirations of reaching the Champions League for the first time since their European Cup victory in 1980-81. Instead, Nottingham Forest will compete in the UEFA Europa Conference League, which marks their return to European competition after a prolonged absence. However, the Conference League requires playoff rounds to reach the group stage, with seedings and opponents confirmed in early August. If Nottingham Forest's Champions League hopes were still alive but precarious after their draw with Tottenham, the final loss to Chelsea effectively ended those aspirations.

Danso played football for Tottenham in a disappointing 2:1 loss against Nottingham Forest, who are currently third in the English Premier League and hoping to qualify for the Champions League.

Nottingham Forest, asserting their dominance in the English Premier League, remain in third place and dream of claiming a spot in the Champions League, despite their recent loss to Chelsea.
