Los Angeles Hosts Immersive "Movie & Bites" Event with Hirokazu Kore-eda
In August 2024, Los Angeles's cultural scene was enriched by a special "Movie & Bites" event, part of a series that combines film screenings with curated food experiences. This time, the series collaborated with acclaimed filmmaker Hirokazu Kore-eda.
The event, which took place on a Saturday in August 2024 at Level 5 of our website Salon, featured the screening of Kore-eda's film "Our Little Sister" (2016). After the movie, a cooking demonstration of Japanese curry was held, and the audience had the opportunity to taste the dish prepared during the demonstration.
Kore-eda, an Oscar-nominated director, kindly shared his thoughts about Los Angeles's cultural scene in an interview video recorded after the event. The video, which can be found on our website, offers insights into the director's appreciation for the city and its unique blend of film and food culture.
The "Movie & Bites" series is known for pairing films with matching food and drink, aiming to deepen engagement with the cinematic storytelling. This collaboration with Kore-eda was no exception, offering a memorable experience that combined his acclaimed cinematic vision with the flavours of Japanese cuisine.
