New Weather Forecast for North Germany

Here's the down-low on the weather for Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein from the DWD, Germany's very own meteorological service. Buckle up!

On 27 June, 2025, prepare for a cloudy start with delicate drizzles sprinkling around, especially along the North Sea. Gale-force winds reaching up to 55 km/h will blow in from the southwest until midday, with a smidgeon of chance for gusts nearing 65 km/h. Along the Baltic Sea, wind gusts will also make an appearance in the morning and continue into the afternoon. By the latter half of the day, the skies will gradually thin out, and the sun might start peeking out. Catch high temperatures ranging between 19°C on Sylt and 22°C between Lübeck and Hamburg.

As you bid goodbye to Friday and welcome Saturday, it'll stay hazy and damp initially, as cloud cover thickens from the northwest later that night. Some raindrops might fall as the night wears on, with temps hanging between 12 and 16°C. Come Saturday, expect an overcast sky with rain in patches. High temps will climb to between 21 and 26°C.

Over the weekend, a high-pressure system is expected to take charge, pushing aside the cloud cover and showers by the early hours of Sunday. By then, the sky will be mostly clear over eastern regions like Hamburg–Dresden, while shimmering sunshine will dance with broken clouds elsewhere in the north, including Schleswig-Holstein. Soft breezes will breeze in from the southwest. Temperatures in the region will soar, reaching 20–25°C in Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg on Sunday.

Starting from Sunday through 2 July, scorching hot and humid air masses are on their way to Germany. While the north, including Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein, will experience temperatures in the range of 20–25°C, the south will sizzle with highs up to 35–39 degrees. Keep an eye out for the occasional storm and heatwave in southern Germany; the north will probably stay dry (with just a wee bit of cloud cover possible).

The German Weather Service has issued a warning for occasional wind gusts and some vagaries as a cold front marches through, combined with the continued west to southwest airflow pushing warm, moist sea air our way.

Bottom line, the north will face chilly, gusty, and wet weather this weekend, with temperatures around 20–25°C early next week. Extreme heat, storms, and wild weather will largely affect southern Germany, leaving the north relatively tranquil.

The Commission shall seek assistance from the Member States in implementing the weather regulations as forecasts indicate gale-force winds and rain showers, particularly in North Germany regions like Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein, starting from this weekend. By next week, temperatures are expected to reach 20–25°C, potentially necessitating further attention to weather situations in these regions.
