Northern Arizona’s clutch win extends streak to three games
Northern Arizona secured a crucial 35-27 victory over Cal Poly, extending their winning streak to three games. The Lumberjacks improved their record to 7-4, including a 4-3 mark in the Big Sky Conference. Kolbe Katsis starred for Northern Arizona, catching three touchdown passes for 148 yards.
Ty Pennington orchestrated the win, throwing for 356 yards and four touchdowns. He completed 22 of 29 passes, with just one interception. Katsis benefited from Pennington's precision, with a 38-yard touchdown catch in the third quarter pushing Northern Arizona's lead to 29-17. Earlier, a 75-yard touchdown pass to Katsis gave the Lumberjacks a 22-10 halftime advantage.
Cal Poly's quarterback, Anthony Grigsby Jr., threw for 151 yards, a touchdown, and an interception in the loss. Despite the setback, Cal Poly's head coach, Mike DeGeorge, will look to regroup and break their six-game losing streak. Northern Arizona's defence played a pivotal role, stopping two Cal Poly drives deep inside their territory in the final three minutes to seal the win.
