North Sea Coast Braces for Light Storm Surge This Weekend

The North Sea coast is bracing for a light storm surge this weekend, with the Sturmflutwarndienst issuing warnings for several tide gauges along the coast. Residents and visitors in areas like Norderney, Bensersiel, Emden, Wilhelmshaven, Cuxhaven, and Bremerhaven are advised to stay vigilant.

Wind speeds in the preceding days are expected to range between 3 and 6. However, during the winter storm warning, wind speeds could reach up to 7. The highest impact is anticipated overnight from Saturday to Sunday, with a storm surge of one meter above the average high tide. On Sunday morning, a high tide of 1.5 meters above the average is forecast. In contrast, the high tide on Saturday morning will be slightly below the average.
